Gospel Music Association-James
My wife Brenda and I spent several days in Nashville earlier this month at the Gospel Music Association's annual convention. It was an interesting time of rubbing shoulders with many of the artists we play, listening to a lot of great music, and learning through numerous sessions during the five day period. Some of the highlights included (1) riding the elevator with Mike Weaver (Big Daddy Weave), and Hunter Smith (Punter from the Colts and member of the group Connersvine), (2) trying to record artist liners for the station with my laptop computer since the regular recorder wasn't working, (3) eating a lot of great food (ask me sometime about the 4 inch thick carrot cake and diet coke) and (4) reminiscing with Jim (key board player from Mercy Me) about our younger days watching the Royals and going to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City. I came away with a new appreciation for the artists we air, their hearts for serving the Lord, and the tough life they have on the road, away from their families, for weeks at a time. By far the majority of artists we met were just humble men and women who are passionate about serving God and are doing their best to honor Him.
